# File attachments

> Attach files to your conversations for additional context

You can attach files to a Chat conversation either from your connected files or upload from your computer.

## How to Attach Files

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click Attach File">
    Click the "Attach file" button in the chat input area.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Files">
    Choose files already in Realm or upload new ones from your device.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask Your Question">
    Type your question about the attached files and send.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  By default, you can attach up to **20 files** to each Chat message.
</Note>
