When to use Search vs. Chat

How Search works

  • Keyword matching: Traditional keyword search finds exact matches in your documents.
  • Semantic matching: Understands the meaning of your query, even when you don’t remember the exact words.
  • Relevance signals: Results are ranked by signals like freshness, how often a document has been shared, and its verification status.

Using the results view

Enter a query in Search to see matching documents, messages, and other synced items in one list. Each result identifies its source, title, author or sender, creation or update date when available, and a matching content excerpt. Open a result’s preview to inspect it without leaving Realm, or follow its source link to open the original item. Use the controls above the results to filter by source, creation date, update date, or content type. The source list also shows how many matches came from each connected system, so you can narrow a broad query to the systems that matter. Sort results by relevance, creation date, or update date. If a search uncovers information that needs synthesis rather than a single document, click Turn into chat to continue with the same query in Chat.
